(AFAS) for financial planning services; and The Strategic Financial Alliance, Inc. (SFA) for securities business. When AFS refers to financial planning services, it is directly related to our Registered Investment Advisory affiliation with AFAS. When AFS refers to securities business, it is directly related to our broker-dealer affiliation with SFA. AFAS and SFA are not affiliated with each other.
Financial planning services offered through Acorn Financial Advisory Services, Inc. (AFAS), a Registered Investment Adviser registered with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. AFAS is a Virginia Corporation whose principal office is located in Fairfax, VA. AFAS is affiliated with Acorn Financial Services, Inc., a subsidiary Virginia Corporation. Our ADV-Part 2 is a required filing to the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). This annual filing is a disclosure document for clients or potential clients of AFAS and includes information such as the investment style, services provided, fees levied, and key officers of our firm. Such individuals may only transact business in a particular state if they hold appropriate licensure or registrations, or by otherwise satisfying the requirements of that state, or if they are exempted from such requirements. Any follow up, or individualized response to consumers in a particular state that involves the offering of investment advice, securities, and/or insurance, for compensation, shall not be made without first complying with the regulations applying to the jurisdiction and type of activity/service involved. As circumstances and opportunities warrant, such individuals may apply for registration and/or licensure in additional states, however they may not conduct any business is such states prior to receipt of necessary regulatory approvals are required.
